The North Shore

We had a great time up in Duluth with Papa and Karma! I took a lot of pictures, so this post will be mostly just pictures. I don't have much time to write, since I am in the middle of making dinner, and we have to leave for R.U. Kids' Club in less than an hour!

Homeschool Supplies

Thanks to a very generous contribution from some loving family members (you know who you are;-), we were able to purchase everything that our hearts desired for the 2010-2011 Crafton Homeschool year! This should be the best year yet, and we have so many fun activities planned!

Christy's core curriculum will be online this year with Monarch: http://www.aophomeschooling.com/monarch/overview.php

Becca's core curriculum will continue to be Christian Light Education:
http://www.clp.org/christian_light_education

However, we will supplement both girls' core curriculum with God's Design for Science: http://www.answersingenesis.org

Also, we will be teaching History and Geography to both girls at the same time with Beautiful Feet Books: http://www.bfbooks.com

Health, Phy. Ed., and Art will also be taught simultaneously to both girls, thus saving us some time.

Here are some of Sam's school supplies for this upcoming year. We chose activities from My Father's World: http://www.mfwbooks.com/toddler_presch.htm and Christian Light Education.

More Water Fun

This has been a great Summer for playing in the water! We set up this little sprinkler, and the kids had so much fun! The sprinkler is actually designed for babies and toddlers, but it was a hit even with our bigger kids! Daniel just watched from the sidelines, since he isn't too sure about it yet. We are thankful that we have a nice yard to play in! :-)

Good Clean Fun

After playing outside in the sandbox and around the house, both boys were in dire need of a bath. Now that Daniel is sitting up so well on his own, his bath seat comes in handy! They have so much fun together in the tub, and Daniel loves to splash! Also, he doesn't mind being splashed by his big brother! ;-)

Christy's Award of Merit

When I had my last seizure, Eric was not home. Christy stayed home with me so that she could help with Daniel. She was able to help me after I had my seizure, and the police officer that responded to the call was so impressed with her, that he nominated her for the Chief's Award of Merit!

Here is what the certificate says on the back:
"On May 16th, 2010, Officer Lerfald was dispatched to a residence on a report of a female unconscious and lying down in the shower. Upon arrival, Officer Lerfald learned that Christina was playing with her 5 month old brother when she heard her mother crying for help. Christina found her mother unresponsive in the shower and called her father for help. Her father instructed her to turn off the water and hold her mother's head out of the water."

"Officer Lerfald was amazed at Christina's maturity level and composure. She followed instructions and provided an airway for her mother while taking care of her 5 month old brother."

I am so thankful that Christy was home, and that she played such a vital role in helping me after my seizure. She may be only 9 years old, but she is so mature and responsible. God is so good to give me such a wonderful daughter!

The Pink-eyed Monster

Christy picked up pink eye from a friend at a church activity a couple of weeks ago, and I was hoping that is would end with her. But, you know how kids love to play actively together and share everything! So, a few days after she showed symptoms, Becca started getting a pink eye, then a few days later, Daniel was showing sypmtoms, and then I thought Sam would be the last one to get it. But, I was wrong...after caring for all these kids, I guess I wasn't careful enough, so now I have pink eye! Oh well, at least we have good insurance and the medication is working well at curing all of us. Here is a cute picture of Daniel, after his treatments. All better!

Babysitting Lambs

We're babysitting our friends' lambs to see if this is a direction we might like to go with our little farm. We'll be producing ...
