Camping
We got away for a few days before the busyness of school and fall! The girls had to work, and we missed them. However, it was fun to camp in our rustic spot, and sleep in the tent. It was a great trip!!

Adventures in the Countryside
Do you see those dark spots in the middle of the field? Those are my boys "adventuring" throughout the countryside behind our house. They made it to the creek, then came back muddy & wet. Said it was the best fun! Big smiles all around, and they'll sleep well tonight.
Sunflowers
My favorite! Good for harvesting seeds later, too. They are so tall this year...I'll have to use a ladder!
Garden Goodies
Sunset salsa verde, fermented dill pickle chips...all sorts of tasty concoctions coming from the kitchen! It will most likely all be eaten within a week. I used the veggies that were left after the kids went through the gardens and had their fill of what is currently ripe. Sometimes it boggles my mind how much these guys eat!
Little Archers
Today we held a casual archery competition, to keep the kids busy at home. Their accuracy is improving!

Garden Fresh
Today's pickin's! Fresh ingredients ready for an amazing meal, after they've been washed and chopped. Some of it will be turned into sauce. Lots more ripening up in the garden!
A Blessing for Christy
God works in mysterious ways!
So, to make a short story long - Christy got the job with Post Cereal, and was assigned to a shift. The week before she started, they discovered an error on their end of the paperwork. It turned out she didn't actually qualify for the job. She was devastated. The very same hour, Menards called, offering her a job based on an application she had turned in a month ago. Now, she'll have flexible hours to accommodate her college schedule, and it will fulfill her work credit requirement for architecture when working in the building and construction materials department. What a blessing!!
Pretty Pickles
I had some more fun pickling today! Smoky Sweet Strawberry Surprise & Good Ol' Fashioned Dill Pickles. The waiting is the hardest part!
The Abundant Zucchini
Our squash garden is exploding! The zucchini is especially plentiful right now, so we've been making good use of it. After seeing me hand-grate for a while, my sweet hubby bought a grating attachment for our KitchenAid. It is amazing! We now have over 10 pounds of grated zucchini in the freezer. We've made zucchini rice bake, fritters, bread, muffins & patties. I'm looking forward to trying many more recipes from my garden produce cookbooks. Tasty, healthy meals for everyone!😃
